Nounsley Village Windmill - demolished 1942

The enormous windmill at Nounsley on the high ground close to the canal was a prominent landmark for enemy aircraft, so, being out of use for over 40 years, it was demolished in 1942

1939 Last Evacuee Dr Jones

Scanned from the 1999 book, Trinity: a school with a past, commissioned by Don Grammer.

(DRAFT) Trinity County School was partly evacuated from 1939 to 1943 to the village of Hatfield Peverel and several chapters on it are in the school history commissioned by Don Grammer and published in 1999 with the title "Trinity: A school with a past". It remains an important source of information on how the school was viewed by past pupils, although it is not a searching appraisal of its impact or the problems it faced when the first headmaster, Dr Jones, retired in 1949. More in other sections. A full summary will appear in the History section later.

In this photo, there is Dr Jones waiting to be allocated a billet with a pupil in the background.
